Job Description Summary

Serve as the on-air host for a variety of programs on WKMS
Presenting local ""continuity""
Depending on experience level,
The announcer/Producer might also be asked to program music for one or more of our local programs

Required Education
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Cumulative 3.0 GPA in college or HS studies
Dependability
Excellent oral reading skills
Extemporaneous speaking skills
Interest in learning the technical facets of radio
Including:
Sending EAS tests
Insuring seamless transitions even during transmission difficulties
Ability to synthesize regional weather announcements, both with supervision and independently
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to learn computer & equipment operations
Ability to deal with unexpected problems along with professional Staff
Must audition in WKMS studio

Preferred Qualifications

Previous on-air experience
Following broadcast log & board operation in a radio setting
Willingness to practice vocal performance that fits in with ""station voice"" expectations
Interest in and familiarity with public radio programming

Special Requirements

Should be comfortable working flawlessly without close supervision
Alone in radio facility
Must use correct grammar in speaking and writing
Must be able to participate in trouble-shooting in tandem with professional Staff when need arises
Must be flexible about being asked to work at times other than assigned shift as need requires
