Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapy (OT) Program Director organizes and serves as administrator of all aspects of the OT program, including but not limited to: curriculum review and revision, program budgetary oversight, compliance with ACOTE accreditation requirements, academic advising, and supervision of OT students in collaboration with the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator. The OT Program Director will teach graduate courses assigned by the department chair within the Occupational Therapy Program and engage in scholarly activity and service to the community and university.

• Organization and administration of all aspects of the educational program
• Write and compile data for the accreditation self-study and prepare for site visits
• Fiscal and budgetary management as determined by the Chair and/or University
• Recruit faculty for the program
• Ensure equitable distribution of educational opportunities at all clinical and classroom sites. This responsibility may be shared with a faculty member designated as Academic Fieldwork Coordinator; however, the program director has ultimate responsibility.
• Oversee the day-to-day operation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of all components (academic and clinical education) of the OT Program.
• Schedule and preside over regular OT program faculty meetings.
• Attend departmental meetings.
• Develop, review, and revise OT and EXS curricula to maintain high-quality programs, to meet accreditation standards and to exceed demands of 21st century healthcare professionals.
• Collaborate with Exercise Science (EXS) faculty on student academic preparation and progression for the OT program.
• Represent MSU and the department during recruitment activities.
• Support the mission of the program and University.

Minimum Education Requirements

An earned doctorate in Occupational Therapy or related discipline. Candidates who are ABD will be considered, but the position requires completion of all doctoral requirements by December 31, 2017.

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years documented experience in the field of Occupational Therapy.
• 3 years of full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the post-secondary education level.
• Certified by the Board of Certification as an Occupational Therapist and also certified or eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications

• Experience as an Occupational Therapy Program Director or Academic Fieldwork Coordinator.
• Experience with program development, writing a self-study and preparing for an accreditation site visit; evaluating program outcomes and revising curriculum to ensure compliance with ACOTE standards; developing/enforcing policies and procedures for an OT program; and recruiting and advising graduate students
• Familiar with ACOTE Standards
