Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities

Primary responsibility will be teaching applied trombone and related areas (chamber music, literature, pedagogy) to undergraduate and graduate music majors and minors. Secondary teaching responsibilities will be commensurate with departmental needs and candidate’s qualifications (music theory or music history preferred). Ongoing productivity as a recognized leader, performer, and educator. Recruiting outstanding students. Committee service, student advising, research/creative activity obligations consistent with all faculty appointments.

Minimum Education Requirements

Doctorate in trombone required by date of hire.

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements

Demonstrated success as a performing artist and teacher of trombone/brass trombone (classical and jazz idioms). College level applied teaching experience required. Ability to teach in a secondary academic area commensurate with departmental needs (music history or music theory preferred). Demonstrated skill in conducting and/or coaching brass chamber ensembles (trombone choir, brass choir, brass quintet). Ability to recruit outstanding students.
