Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities

Assists in the supervising, scheduling work, maintaining cleanliness of buildings, monitoring pool chemicals, and pest control spraying. Assist with timekeeping and work management programs. Trains new employees and current employees on the safe use of equipment, proper cleaning procedures and safe use of chemicals.

• Assisting in the scheduling work and maintaining clean and sanitary conditions along with good relationship with occupants of buildings.
• Properly caring for assigned equipment, knowledge of safe working practices, and implementation.
• Supervision of snow and ice removal at building entrances.
• Monitoring chemical levels in swimming pool and spraying for pest control.
• Assist with Ecotime timekeeping duties and AiM work management duties.
• Provides management and leadership in the absence of the Building Services Evening Manager.
• Primary trainer of Building Services Technicians.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Eight hours per day, five days per week, 4:00 pm-12:30 am (occasional overtime, subject to call-in).

Minimum Education Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements

• One year experience in custodial work. Can be acquired at a university, other institution, or business.
• Two years’ supervisory experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements to operate a university vehicle.
• Must have or be able to obtain aquatic Certified Pool Operator certification, pest control certification, and propane buffer license, within one year.
• Must be able to use a computer, including the ability to learn how to use Ecotime timekeeping software and AiM work management software.
• Ability to plan and memory for oral and written directions.
• Ability to supervise people.
• Must be able or have the ability to use vacuum, scrubber, buffer, carpet extractor, pressure washer, and floor sander.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to deal with faculty, other employees, students, and visitors in a courteous and helpful manner.
• Required to be on feet for long periods of time and physical efforts involved in use of and moving heavy equipment.
