Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities

Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Music to begin August 2018. Rank to be determined based upon the successful candidate’s qualifications.

Primary responsibilities will be conducting the wind bands, teaching conducting courses, and teaching in other areas commensurate with departmental needs and candidate’s qualifications. The candidate must also be a recognized leader, performer, and educator; recruit outstanding students; provide service to the university and profession; serve as an academic advisor; and meet research/creative obligations consistent with all faculty appointments.

Minimum Education Requirements

The successful candidate will possess a doctorate, or will have equivalent experience in wind conducting, with no less than a master’s degree.

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements

The successful candidate must demonstrate success as a musician and a teacher, demonstrate an ability to conduct a wind band, assist the Instrumental Unit in recruiting outstanding students, and possess an ability to manage the Band area. College-level teaching experience is required.

Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications

Public school experience is desired.
